EcoShores Launches World Environment Day 2025 Fitches Creek Bay Look Book

Highlighting Women, Community, Nature, Tourism and the Power of Sustainable Futures in NEMMA

In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, the EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network proudly unveiled its Look Book of a special showcase held in the picturesque Fitches Creek Bay, within the North East Marine Management Area (NEMMA). This event brought together community members, youth, conservation partners, and local representatives to reflect on this year’s global theme and to spotlight EcoShores’ bold local initiatives.

The Look Book is a visual collection of images reflecting community resilience, ecological connection, and social empowerment in the wetlands. It captures the living stories behind the EcoShores’ 8 Pillars for Resilient Island Living: Engagement, Experience, Environment, Equity, Empowerment, Expression, Education, and Economy.

This year’s edition placed special emphasis on the impact of tourism on women and girls in climate resilience and environmental stewardship. Through participatory photography, storytelling, and curated field visits, the Look Book reflects their voices, values, and vision for a more inclusive and regenerative future.

“Our goal is to ensure that women and girls are not only included in environmental efforts, but that their perspectives shape how we manage and protect wetlands,” said Britney McDonald, Portfolio Manager for EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network.

The day also featured interactive stations along the bay, showcasing youth-led mangrove monitoring, eco-tourism design concepts, and ancestral knowledge connected to the land and sea.

As Antigua and Barbuda continues to face the urgent challenges of climate change, rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss, EcoShores remains steadfast in its mission to build a community-rooted movement that uplifts the most vulnerable while protecting the most vital.

The World Environment Day 2025 Look Book stands as a symbol of what’s possible when people, place, and purpose align. It is available digitally through EcoShores’ official website.
