The EcoShores Expeditioner Program is breaking new ground in development and environmental leadership, creating opportunities for individuals to actively contribute to conservation and sustainability. At its heart are four exceptional women—Dorcellia Joseph, Keimara Jackson, Chammaiah Ambrose, and Zoë Hull—who are leading the charge with their passion, dedication, and hands-on contributions.
Driving Impact Through Project Management
A cornerstone of their work has been their involvement in project management activities across several vital areas. Chief among these is their instrumental role in establishing the EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network (ESFN), a dynamic non-governmental organization committed to promoting climate resilience, environmental conservation, and community empowerment. Through their efforts, these Expeditioners are not just participants but changemakers, actively shaping the direction and mission of ESFN to ensure long-lasting impact. Their project management education extends to supporting and organizing critical activities, such as educational wetlands kayaking tours. These tours provide residents and tourists with immersive experiences while raising awareness about the importance of preserving delicate ecosystems.
Conservation in Action
The Expeditioners have also delved into wildlife conservation, joining sea turtle watches in collaboration with AB Sea Turtles and ESFN. These activities offer a rare glimpse into the lives of these threatened species while reinforcing the critical need for protection and sustainable practices.
A Platform for Storytelling and Advocacy
As part of their contribution to environmental journalism and climate advocacy, the Expeditioners are actively assisting in the development of The Endeavour, a newsletter dedicated to environmental storytelling and climate justice. This publication seeks to amplify underrepresented voices and share compelling narratives that inspire action and awareness. Complementing this effort is the creation of a podcast series that highlights pressing environmental issues, local solutions, and the importance of community-led actions. The podcast serves as a platform for discussion, education, and empowerment, furthering the program’s reach and influence.
Mentorship and Capacity Building
Throughout their journey, Dorcellia, Keimara, Chammaiah, and Zoë have been supported by the mentorship of the EcoShores Expeditions team. These mentors provide guidance across various fields, including administration, project management, communications, data analysis, research, and media design. This comprehensive support system not only enriches the Expeditioners’ experiences but also equips them with the skills and confidence to lead in their own right.
Expanding Knowledge Through EcoCourses
The program also incorporates EcoShores’ EcoCourses, which focus on sustainability topics such as waste management, green procurement and tourism and the environment. These courses provide the Expeditioners with access to cutting-edge research, foster sustainable development practices, and promote behavior change that aligns with global conservation goals.
