This year’s theme celebrates the unwavering spirit, innovation, and leadership of Caribbean youth as they shape the future of their islands. Across our region, young people are engaging with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and they are living them, adapting global aspirations to meet their local realities.
Within the EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network and beyond, we see this every day: young leaders working hand-in-hand with communities, elders, and peers to nurture the environments, cultures, and economies that sustain us. Over the past year, our media stories have captured these efforts from biodiversity protection and sea turtle conservation, to creative arts as a voice for change, to advancing sustainable finance and climate justice. We’ve highlighted the power of women’s and girls’ empowerment, the importance of sound project management, and the creativity that fuels solutions to today’s most pressing challenges.
We are especially proud of our Expeditioner Interns, who have stepped forward with courage and curiosity, broadening their skills and pushing into new horizons. Their work reflects not only personal growth but also a deeper connection to their communities: sharing knowledge, fostering equity, and inspiring others to take action.
International Youth Day 2025 is a celebration; it’s a reminder that local youth actions create ripples of change that reach far beyond our shores. Together, we are building a future where Caribbean voices lead in shaping a more sustainable, just, and connected world.
