Antigua and Barbuda – [To be inserted – EcoShores Expeditions is excited to announce the launch of its first Expeditioner Program cohort for 2024-2025, providing an opportunity for four exceptional interns to contribute directly to the sustainable development of Antigua and Barbuda. The selected interns, Keimara Jackson, Chammaiah Ambrose, Dorcellia Joseph, and Zoë Hull, will spend the next 10 months working alongside experts in project management, tourism, environmental conservation, waste management, social media and marketing, and data analysis.
The EcoShores Expeditioner Internship Program aligns with the mission of the EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network, which is committed to advancing sustainable development, fostering environmental stewardship, and empowering local communities in the Caribbean. The program offers hands-on experience in crucial areas, contributing to national building and the strengthening of local talent for long-term development.
“We are thrilled to have these outstanding interns join the EcoShores team,” said Britney McDonald, Portfolio Manager at EcoShores Expeditions. “This program is not just about providing professional experience; it’s about making a tangible impact on our environment and communities. Our interns have already contributed to vital initiatives such as sea turtle conservation, bulk waste cleanup with the Fitches Creek Residents Association and the National Solid Waste Management Authority, and are gaining valuable knowledge in grant proposal writing, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability.”
As part of the program, the interns will also have the opportunity to network with project teams based in Dominica, with future plans to expand into St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This initiative represents a sustainable solution to the ongoing issue of brain drain by retaining local talent and providing them with the skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of conservation and sustainable development.
The EcoShores Expeditioner Internship Program is not only a way to empower young professionals but also an essential component in advancing the mission of the EcoShores Sustainable Futures Network to create a more resilient and sustainable future for the region.
Applications for Cohort 2 of the Internship Program will open on March 1st and close on March 31st, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by May 31st, 2025, with the second cohort set to begin on June 1st, 2025.
